To work on gas you need to prove competency, which means you must attain the CCN1 Gas core qualification as a minimum.
All Students must undertake a MLP (Managed Learning Programme) This is a minimum 280 learning hours which is recognised as meeting requirements of IGEM/IG1 and will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement by BFC

ECS New Entrant's Gas Training Courses ( 6 to 8 1/2 months )
PG1 Course - £4400.00+VAT FLEXIBLE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE subject to additional costs )PG1 Courses are only delivered once every 5 weeks or so, with a maximum of 4 to 6 candidates per class so places are limited. Aimed at Candidates with no formal Gas or Plumbing qualifications, enabling them to enter the Gas Industry. Flexible Training around your existing work or other commitments.
Criteria
Stage 1: 3 weeks (9 days) Practical/Theory learning all about gas. Stage 2: Portfolio of 30 jobs (6 months minimum) Stage 3: At 3 months - Portfolio (Up to 2 weeks) Interim Review and additional Training/Homework Study, at Centre/Home. Stage 4: Up to 1 week Portfolio review + Sign-off. Additional Training and Pathway examinations. Stage 5: Up to 1 week Refresher training and ACS Initial Assessment
PG1 (Abridged) or Plumber to Gas Course - starting from £3000.00+VAT depending on training days required (Pathway is also required £1000+Vat) Total £4000.00+Vat FLEXIBLE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE subject to additional costs )This PG1 (Abridged) or Plumber to Gas Course is designed for people who already work in the Gas or Plumbing Industry alongside Registered Gas Engineer(s) and have gained experience which has to be evidenced. After assessing current Knowledge/experience, and evidence of Gas experience we will advise on Training/Assessment days and costs. A Portfolio of evidence (work carried out under the supervision of a Gas Safe Registered Engineer) will be required. This can include past evidence already gained. Confirmation letter from the engineer or company with whom they have gained their experience.
